Introduction
Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
On August 6, 1945 an American bomber plane dropped the world's first atom bomb over Hiroshima, Japan. The explosion decimated the city; its blast killed 80,000 people on impact. Thousands of people died after the explosion due to radiation exposure. President Truman dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. This bombing killed 40,000 people, and forced Japan's Emperor to surrender. Hirohito announced the surrender of his country over radio broadcast. The United States took the easy way out of the war and took careless action in dropping the nuclear bombs. The United States was not justified in dropping the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end WWII because many innocent people were killed and there are still lasting effects of the bombs today.
